Do you have a very short, smooth-coated dog? Here’s how to chalk them! Chalking is what we consider a ‘finishing touches’ type of grooming. You might chalk your dog to create more bone or, more likely with this coat type, to enhance your dog’s colour. Here we demonstrate how to chalk our friend Madison the Whippet! Equipment Used: - Self Rinse - Colestral - White Ice Chalk - A towel, paper towe...

Another good one would be a Bedlington terrier quick start guide for sure! 🧡
We definitely should! In the meantime we of course have "The Ultimate Guide to the Bedlington Terrier" on our site
I'd love to see a Westie if you are able. Thank you😊
Great request, we'll add it to our list!
@@LeadingEdgeDogShowAcademy thank you😊
Thank you! So tough to get a young Belgian to focus.
which Slicker Brush can I use on a Samoyed puppy? helppppppppp
Hello, please help me when shopping for at home grooming products for my long, matted hair Yorkie. She also is very itchy.I just adopted her and eantbhe feeling, looking and smelling her best. Also what brush would be best? Ty for ur timei look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks
My Mini American Shepherd is the same way about looking back at me constantly. She’s only 8 months so I’m hoping I can still correct this behavior. She also is uncomfortable with the collar around her neck so she arches her neck up when we go around the ring. I have been trying to get her to lower her head. When I watch her gating around the yard and house naturally she holds her head down and forward like typical for the breed so I know it isn’t structural. I have been told by other breeders and handlers that if I can get her to lower her head she will do really well. Going to definitely try this in hopes it helps her learn what I am asking of her so it only has to be temporary. I’m not sure how well we would do in the PNW with me having to pull her neck down like this 😅 Might try the big treat idea too. On another note, I should probably look into Rally.
Do you have recommendations for airlines with the widest heat restriction policies? I'm trying to move a dog from Honolulu to the mainland and run into some trouble because Delta upper limit is 80°f and 81° is the temperature most days in Hawaii.
Thank you ❤
Thank you
Hi Alison love your tips as always. I have a very anxious reactive dog at shows since hes had several unpleasant encounters there. He also now will not put his tail up because of this. . Do you have any or videos that deal with this type of issue. Thanks tips
Love your tips but I have a dog that's had several bad experiences at a dog show and now is very anxious at shows and also won't put his tail up. Do you have any tips or videos that deal directly with this sort of problem. Thanks
Lmao... I learned nothing. Is there another video with the actual groom? Am I missing something?
how about an Alaskan Klee Kai? G or K 👀 They are like Alaskan Husky, but a lot smaller Thought K, but then you said Malamut Husky would be G... tho they aren't really the same I guess.
Thank you so much for the information! After the last Q&A when you addressed his issues, I’ve really been working my boy Gucci before the ring and he has taken BOB 3 times!
That's so great to hear!!! We hope to see an update photo/video in an upcoming Q&A and please send in a Student Success story 😄
Amazing hints as always
Thanks Addison!
Just wants to see what you are doing? Good girl/boy. 😂
Hi! Why never ever brush dry?
It's damaging to the coat! The spray acts as a lubricant to avoid friction and damage. We explain here: ruclips.net/video/0K5xa-UbNT0/видео.html
What product are you using? Thanks
I can't keep my rescoe cloth collar up- my dog puts his head down to sniff and bam, its at the bottom of his neck. what to do? he's a 9 mo m schnauzer and the sniffing thing is still happening
Hello dear if it’s possible can you please make show grooming video on whippets please
I've been using the listerine since you mentioned it in a previous video. It's fantastic. I was using alcohol before, but I see a better difference with the mouth wash. Thank you for the tip.
Please make a face tutorial❤ I have a full white BT
Looking at the Listerine site, it states in the FAQs that NO, listerine is not a good disinfectant for surfaces, so you should find something else to disinfect your brushes
I put anti skid cabinet/drawer liner in my box so things don’t slits to much
Why are all the videos on fast speed. Hard to understand
Groomer friend recommended ShipShape, from the makers of Barbicide, to clean brushes, slickers, combs, if they truly get real dirty, she was impressed.
I love the Listerine suggestion. Thank you!
Good morning great nice short and sweet advice ❤
That dog should get an award for his/her endless patience 😊
Thank you! Looking forward to the makeup tutorial!
Do you have any suggestions for 12 month old male Rottweiler. Hes 116 lbs
OMG!!! If I could hug you, I would. I have a huge rough collie boy, and my groomer moved. No one wants to groom a rough collie in my area. I literally purchased a grooming lift table, a 65 inch bathing tub and totally redesigned my laundry room. (I have 2 other dogs that get bathed often). I was pin brushing and raking and used a deshedding shampoo/conditioner on my dog. I was trying to still get off the shedding fur afterwards, and couldn't get the fur to smooth out like my groomer did. This was my first solo groom for my boy, but I gotta say, by the time I got done, sprayed him with a little shine, he looks like he walked out of my groomers. Thanks again. I was lifting before, and brushing, but the line is what really makes the difference.
I have a dog that I hope to show and I work with 4-H kids in their dog project. This will be helpful for the kids and me.
Great tip, thanks. What breed of dog are you using as an example on the second part?
May i ask why chalk a dog??
Just about to ask the exact same question!
Looks like it’s for dog shows
@@ninak2346 still confused 😐 do they go on the pole ?!
@@ninak2346yes
I think it may be to further brighten the naturally white areas for shows?
What could i do to cover grey hairs on a dog with a black muzzle?
Have you tried a black chalk block or "pigment stick" like the Chris Christensen ChrisStix? They work very well!
what do you use for chalk?
We're using Chris Christensen White Ice here (just in a Tupperware-type container). For some breeds you can also use baby powder or a chalk-baby powder mix.
Good to know!I was wondering if you have tips and tricks for dogs that turn around to give you kisses while your powdering their hind legs!?or while doing show prep
This is truly an art form. All my dogs have longer fur, but I've seen handlers doing this at shows, and it's amazing! Really helps show off the dog's features. ❤🐕
Right!! We think you can really see a difference in this example too. Thanks for watching :)
can you please make more junior handler videos? thank you!
erm… who are you?

Great idea!

so is this what i would use on my golden retreiver to keep his coat straight and keep it from looking so disheveled? or is the purpose on a golden retriever just to reduce the shedding seemed like no matter what groomer i took him to, the hair on top of his back by his butt always had a mind of its own and went everywhere and wasn't "showdog quality". is that just because combing him needs to be a regular thing with a brush like this?
How often do you line comb?
Where did you get your rubber band container ?😅
Some show venders sell some on show sites
Best I have heard in a long time "left in a huff because I have lost". Happens ALL the time (but not me!!!) 😂
Can 2 dogs 1 small 1 medium travel in the same kennel??
Very helpful to watch confirms I have been. Doing. It right😊
Could you please recommend a grooming table for home use for a Bolognese dog? I would want one with a H bar. Nothing elevated. Just sturdy and good quality. Also what size table would you recommend? Thank you so much.
Is there a specific lead I should buy? I have a Bichon frise and I feel like he coughs a lot with the slip lead but this makes sense on where to position the lead. Thank you for this helpful video.
Usually for showing it’s a slip lead
